a slower pace, a richer journey

If the sound of escaping the hustle and bustle of everyday life appeals then you might want to consider a more relaxed way of travelling. Or if Ocean and River cruising are not your thing, then we can highly recommend a luxury hotel barge.

You can choose to glide the smaller canals in France, Scotland, Ireland or the U.K. Each adventure is different and is for six nights. All the hard work is taken care of by the exceptional crew who attend to your every need. Unpack, settle in and enjoy a glass of wine. Spend days relaxing, walking the tow path, partake in small group excursions, immerse yourself in local culture and history and enjoy cuisine prepared by the onboard chef with wines to match. Depending on which itinerary is selected, barges can accommodate between 8 – 20 passengers.

EUROPE

Barging has been a long past time experience in Europe where smaller waterways cater to intimate vessels. You avoid the hustle and bustle of the larger waterways and experience a more intimate way of travelling, at a slower pace. With several barges to choose from we can assist in making the right choice for you. Your home away from home for 6 nights can accommodate between 8 – 20 passengers depending on the destination.

The canals of France weave their way through century old villages, alongside picturesque landscapes adorned with vineyards, chateaus and UNESCO World Heritage sites, whilst in Italy visits to glass and lace making islands and the grandeur of St Mark’s Square are a must.  Visiters to Holland have the opportunity to visit the famous Keukenhof Gardens and Aalsmeer flower auctions and learn about the popular Royal Delft Potteries. Barge cruise between Holland and Belgium, and between Germany and Luxemburg, along the Mozelle are also available.

IRELAND

A journey along the River Shannon and its lakes is like stepping back in time, where the countryside has changed little and Irish hospitality abounds at every turn.  During your cruise, there are fascinating opportunities that immerse you into the heart of the country. Whether it be a private tour of a castle, a special whisky tasting experience at the oldest licenced whisky distillery in the world, a bird of prey demonstration at a magnificent estate, or a visit to a Guiness and oyster pub with the locals each experience is memorable.

A slow journey along the River Shannon is immersive and with a maximum of 10 guests, an intimate experience. Let the attentive team take care of you. The on-board chef prepares some of the finest regional meals matched with wines whilst the host and hostesses cater to your every need, take care of your cabins and the captain amazes you with their ability to steer vessels through the smallest locks.

UNITED KINGDOM

Escaping the hustle and bustle of the bigger cities, the River Thames has much more to offer than expected. The journey takes you between Hampton Court Palace and Henley on the Thames, passing riverside towns, villages and Royal landmarks etched in the country’s rich history. Excursions take you to grand Castles and Palaces and an exclusive mooring at Cliveden Estate owned by the Palmer family for more than 450 years.

Your home away from home is a lovingly restored 1930s barge rich in fine mahogany, teak and oak. Warm surrounds, creature comforts and with a maximum of 8 quests you certainly will feel like royalty.

SCOTLAND

A champagne welcome as you arrive at your home away from home for the next 6 nights. Unpack and settle into your ensuite cabin, relax in the cosy saloon reminiscent of a county house adorned with touches of tartan, wood panelling and picturesque windows. Chat to fellow travellers, all here to experience everything Scottish. Scottish barges take a maximum of 8 or 12 passengers for 6 nights.

Your Scottish journey is rich in history, with stops at Culloden Moor and Cawdor Manor, both important in the country’s long history. Sail along quaint canals and across Loch Ness, pass by the smallest Pepperpot Lighthouse and visit the iconic Eilean Donan Castle. Continuing the Scottish theme, we make stops at some of the local whisky distilleries, with history lessons and private tasting just for you.
